Fans of Arcade Fire can rest assured that their favorite Canadian indie-rock band is not going anywhere. However there is news that several band members, as well as ex-band members, have various other musical projects under their belts. One spin-off is Team B, which spawned the hits “On My Mind,” “No Purchase Necessary” and “Mystery Man.” The other group that is attracting attention is Clues, which debuted at last year’s Pop Montreal festival. They also have a hit song called “Perfect Fit,” which has been attracting attention among Arcade Fire fans. Check out the ticket selection at http://www.stubhub.com.

The indie rock band from Canada is one of many musical groups to come out of the scenic country to the north of the United States. And so long as they keep playing the soulful and heartfelt tunes that they continue to write, we shall not complain.

Arcade Fire was founded in 2003 by husband and wife Win Butler and Regine Chassagne. Richard Reed Parry, William Butler, Time Kingsbury, Sarah Neufeld and Jeremy Gara are all also members of the band, and the group went on to record the album, Funeral, in 2004 and later in 2007, Neon Bible. Funeral is the more somber of the releases with the name of the album collectively thought of after the deaths of several of the bandmates relatives during the recording. Neon Bible has gained even more critical acclaim with the smash hits; “Intervention” and “Keep the Car Running.” With several hits and hot albums, The Arcade Fire tickets were becoming fast selling commodities in the music market.

With each band member contributing a musical instrument to every song, the live performances are enthralling, and the sound that emerges is one of diverse backgrounds and upbeat lyrics to match. The variety of sounds that occur throughout the performances are thanks to the guitar, drums, bass guitar, piano, violin, cello, double bass, keyboard, French horn, harp and mandolin. Talented? There is no doubt.

It is perhaps a growing occurrence that the emerging bands of today are more original, unique and filled with lyrics that actually epitomize the lives and thoughts of the everyday populace rather than just the glitz and glamour that is associated with Hollywood pop stars. It is refreshing to see this change, and it is even more encouraging to see the throngs of fans that flock to these hip young concerts. The boys and girls who practiced in the neighborhood garage and held late night jam sessions are proving to be the new role models of today, and the world couldn’t be more proud.

Arcade Fire has released two hit albums; they have been well received in North America and in Europe. They play at venues of all capacities and are constantly besting themselves with each new live performance. Their music is on the radio and in Ipods across the country, and now its time for you to tune in. Even if you missed their most recent tour, you can surely catch them the next time that they appear on the road, try http://www.stubhub.com/the-arcade-fire-tickets/.

The Importance of Email Addresses

Filed Under Business | Comments Off

Groshan Fabiola asked:

Email addresses are not just luxuries anymore; they are necessities for everyone who wants to be a part of modern society and communicate with others. Many email services are free these days, which is fine for the average person who just wants to send messages to friends and family, but many people require more state-of-the-art services. There are email service providers that provide both of these options and even allow people to have personalized email addresses with names that they choose.

Email services do more than just allow people to send and receive text messages, although this is still their primary function. Email service providers allow people to send music and graphic attachments, forward received messages to other contacts, sort saved emails into different folders for posterity and do countless other things. Email services also come with home pages that the user can personalize, so when they check their email they can see news, concert updates, recipes and other personalized information.

People can get email addresses for free, but they can also add additional services for a very fee, such as larger message size, bigger filters, enhanced spam protection, address guards, offline access with POP, stationery and mail forwarding. These premium email services also prevent things like graphical ads, promotional taglines in messages and account expiration. Some email service providers even allow people to have personalized email addresses, such as star@im-kind-of-a-big-deal.com.

There are all different kinds of email addresses and related services these days, but everyone needs at least the basic services to keep up with the communication age. Without the ability to email, people can easily start to feel left behind from their friends and family. People use emails to send invitations, keep in touch with loved ones that are far away, share information, and receive information from important contacts.

Government officials are now starting to get involved with the issue of over-priced Hannah Montana concert tickets. It appears that parents are outraged over the cost of the concert tickets. According to news reports, ticket brokers quickly begun buying tickets to the concerts until there was none available except through them. This artificially induced lack of supply in the market soon brought the cost of these golden tickets to an astonishing average of $975.00 per ticket.

In some places the tickets have sold for as much as $2,500.00 and parents are starting to take action with the help of local government officials. It is believed that the actions that these ticket brokers have taken part in are illegal. These ticket brokers are simply acting as ticket scalpers, which is a crime in most states.

The local District Attorneys are closely looking into the complaints made by parents regarding the unscrupulous manner in which these brokers do business. I am pretty sure that Disney had no idea that this was going to happen, but it is not likely that they could do much about it, other than requiring people to purchase their tickets in person. However, it is not likely that this would have prevented this situation either.

As the parent of daughters that eat, breath, and sleep Hannah Montana, I can tell you that it is very difficult to deny them the opportunity to see their favorite singer, television star. Nevertheless, I think that I can draw the line in this situation, and that is when the cost of the tickets are equal to about a month’s salary.

It is likely that there will be many individuals and companies whom are going to be affected by the outcome of any of these investigations and law suits. I only hope that something good comes out of it and the ticket brokers find out that they simply cannot take advantage of people.

It is people like these ticket brokers which makes it necessary for government to come in and start regulating them, and because the public is affected, they are more than willing to bring the government into the loop. Instead of bringing in government control, I say do not buy the tickets. It would serve those scalpers right if they got stuck with a bunch of Hannah Montana tickets.

Cue Music Database 6 Months on

Filed Under Music | Comments Off

Gary Simpson asked:

Just over 6 months ago, I found myself (not for the first time) idly surfing the web looking at a variety of different popular music websites. They’re dotted about all over the place, taking part in many mini-battles with each other, trying to gain number one status with their own particular target audiences. Then it occurred to me; who’s trying to attain number one status with ALL target audiences?

I thought that the best way to achieve this was to create a website that had a page for every band and artist there is or has been. The page should contain news articles, pictures, videos and MP3 downloads. Great idea… but how the heck would I do that? NME has a battalion of researchers running around the globe for them. The BBC has an army! I have… er… me!

After a lot of deliberation and failed attempts, this is what I came up with: fill a database with as many bands and artists as possible then scour the web. Or, more importantly, since there are only 24 hours in a day, develop some automated routines that would do it for me. The CUE Music Database automated routines regularly check tens of RSS feeds for news, check video download sites for videos, check royalty free image sites for photos, check ticket sites for concert tickets and MP3 download sites for downloads. These automated routines run continuously, keeping the music database as up to date as possible at all times.

Sure, automation is not 100% accurate and I guess having 100 staff doing the work manually would lessen the mis-matches, but hey - I don’t! As time has gone by, the search routines have been tweaked, the site design has been altered and now, on it’s 6 month birthday, CUE Music Database boasts pages for over 3000 artists, with 12000 news articles, 1400 photos and 80000 videos!

The CUE Music Database front page is constantly dynamic, showing you the latest music news headlines with accompanying artist photos and showing our Top 10 videos, Top 10 artists along with the latest bands, artists and videos we have added.

Whether you’re in to Jay-Z, Coldplay, Metallica or Madonna, CUE-mdb has a page (or a hundred) for your tastes!

The website has a feedback form where you can contact me to add bands and artists that have been overlooked. I am always happy to receive feedback on ways in which the website can be improved and I get a particular thrill when new, up and coming artists contact me direct to say, “hey, why aren’t we on your site?” Rest assured, when they do, they are quickly added to one of the most vast music resources on the web!

Winning Witch Wicked Tickets!

Filed Under Sports And Fitness | Comments Off

Lina Smith asked:

“Dad Dad I’ve just won Wicked tickets”. My 15 year-old daughter came running into my study to deliver this news with unrepressed excitement.

“That’s very nice dear. Tickets for what?” I replied only half listening

“Oh Dad you are such an old fogey. They’re Wicked tickets!” She said placing all the emphasis on WICKED and less on tickets.

“Yes I get the idea you like them, I’m not such an old fogey that don’t know youth-speak when I hear it, but wicked tickets in my day would have meant just the opposite because wicked means evil or bad. Really I dread to think what they aren’t teaching at that expensive school I send you to”.

“Get with it Dad wicked tickets means really really cool. In fact they are the hottest Wicked tickets around”.

“Well I’m glad we sorted that out”. I replied looking and feeling anything but enlightened.

She explained further. “Wicked tickets are tickets for the show “Wicked”. It’s the best musical in the World ever”.

“If I’ve told you once about exaggerating I’ve told you a million times”. I quipped but she just gave me that ‘du urh’ look and pressed on.

“I was listening to the local radio and they had this competition to win Wicked tickets where I had to answer a question and be the first to phone in and get it right and I heard myself on the radio and I got it right so I won two wicked Wicked tickets so you’ve got to take me to London to see Wicked”.

“Wicked!” I said with only the slightest trace of irony. “So what was this question?”

“I had to say the title of the book from which Wicked came and it’s called Wicked: The Life And Times Of The Wicked Witch Of The West. We actually read it in social studies in that expensive school you sent me to and if you haven’t heard of it then I dread to think what they didn’t teach you at that expensive school you went too ”. I really don’t know where she gets her sense of irony from but I thought it best not to rise to the bait.

So I just said. “Did they make you tap your heels together and spin around three times as well?” It was her turn to look confused so I continued. “The wicked witch of the west was the evil character in The Wizard Of Oz, another musical from another book and Dorothy the main character had to do the heel tapping routine…” My daughters’ eyes had begun to glaze over so I came back to her world.

“Social studies you say. How are Wicked tickets related to that?”

“Wicked is all about good and evil and growing up and fame and being true to yourself as a witch.” She told me.

“Ah so are you a witch and if so which witch are you?”

“Oh very funny”. She retorted without the slightest smile. “Are we going to use these Wicked tickets or shall I sell them on eBay?”

“Of course we’ll use your hard-won Wicked tickets. I’m intrigued to see this really cool, hot, wicked, witchy, social, book, musical show thingy”.

At this she stamped her foot, turned on the spot and left mumbling something about old fogeys and evil parents and lots of other stuff I didn’t catch.

With concerts selling out in record times, more and more consumers have become frustrated with the amount of effort it takes to see their favorite bands live. Even arenas with thousands of seats face shortages for the most popular shows. But for those who are willing to put forth the extra effort, there are several ways to buy concert tickets online. Not only is the internet a great place to find tickets to sold out shows, but there are many bargains to be found as well.

The key to finding success in the online ticket marketplace is to know the best places to start your search. Ticketmaster should be your first stop since it is the primary ticket distribution service for all shows and arenas. By visiting this site first you will have access to seats at their original face value, assuming that the show has not sold out. The best way to find success with Ticketmaster is to plan ahead. You can use their search feature to determine exactly when a show goes on sale, which will allow you to purchase tickets the exact moment they are available.

Another method to gaining the inside track on upcoming shows is to become a member of the fan club for your favorite artist. This can usually be done by simply registering at the artist’s website. Some fan clubs offer the opportunity for members to purchase tickets before they go on sale to the public, while others send out emails reminding fans when the public sales begin. Either way, by taking the time to register at these sites you will always know when your favorite band is coming to your region.

If your concert has already sold out, then it is best to look into the secondary ticket marketplaces. The two most popular are eBay and StubHub. The advantage to these websites is that you can bid on the tickets that you want. This means you will only pay a price that you can afford. Of course it is important to monitor the auctions to make sure you don’t get outbid on an item you really want. In addition to live auctions, many of the tickets feature a “buy it now” option that allows you to secure the tickets immediately. There is no cost to the buyer for using these services, but you will need to register for a free account and have a credit card to pay for transaction.

Browsing online classified ad websites like Craigslist is another way to find tickets. Doing business through these websites is not always as secure since there are no regulations for posting an ad, but you can protect yourself by following some simple guidelines. First, always make sure to exchange the money and tickets in person so that you can verify their authenticity. Second, never participate in a transaction where the seller wants you to pay through a third party. Doing these things will go a long way to insuring you get exactly what you are paying for.

There are many different options for fans to by concert tickets online. The more avenues you become familiar with, the better your chances will be to secure seats to your favorite shows. The good news is that it doesn’t cost anything to browse these different marketplaces. Take the time to familiarize yourself with them before buying anything. Once you know how the system works, you can make the best purchasing decision for your budget.

Recent news out Brisbane is that the bassist from the rock group Good Charlotte was taken to the hospital on November third, after falling off of the stage only minutes after the show started. Apparently the rock musician seriously wounded his ankle after jumping around onstage, which could have led to a misstep that provoked the fall. Paul Thomas, however, was apparently not deterred and continued to play throughout the duration of the concert by sitting in a chair with a large ice-pack strapped to the effected ankle. There were reportedly no broken bones, which hopefully means a quick heal for the performer who is still scheduled to continue touring with Good Charlotte. If you want to check out the band while they journey across the world in support of their new album Good Morning Revival, be sure to check out what http://www.stubhub.com/good-charlotte-tickets/ has available.

Good Charlotte is a well-known American pop-punk band that hails from Waldorf, Maryland. They first formed in 1996 and have been playing to sold out crowds since then. The band took their name from a children’s book called Good Charlotte: The Girls of Good Day Orphanage, and they have thus far released four albums in total. Their most memorable record was 2002’s multi-platinum seller The Young and the Hopeless, which spawned the singles “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous,” “The Anthem” and “Girls and Boys.” Their popularity has grown exponentially and as a result Good Charlotte tickets are some of the hottest items in the modern day music industry.

The band is fronted by identical twin brothers Joel and Benji Madden, and the other members include Billy Martin, Paul Thomas and Dean Butterworth. Together all of these talented musicians create a sound that is both unique and interesting to all of their listeners. Fans around the world were tuning in to the sounds of punk and buying their own Good Charlotte tickets.

Good Charlotte started out by playing at clubs and small venues and soon caught the attention of post-grunge band Lit. They also started touring with legendary punk rockers Blink 182 and eventually signed with Epic Records in 1999. The following year, they released their self-titled debut album. Their single titled “Little Things” ended up being very successful on the radio and it eventually peaked at the number 23 spot on the U.S. Modern Rock Tracks chart. Two other singles immediately followed, those being “The Motivation Proclamation” and “Festival Song.” “The Motivation Proclamation” was the most successful single released from the album, peaking at number 65 on the U.S. Hot 100.

Their 2002 album The Young and the Hopeless significantly marked the band’s emergence into mainstream popularity. Their breakthrough single titled “Lifestyles of the Rick and Famous” topped both pop and rock charts around the globe. Several other singles from that record include: “The Anthem,” “Girls and Boys,” “The Young and the Hopeless” and “Hold On.”

Good Charlotte is not just any other punk band to emerge on the music scene. They are talented and determined to make their mark on the punk rock scene and are admired by many other bands in the same genre. Fans hope that Paul Thomas will recover quickly and be able to continue on this exciting tour without any further mishaps.
